If you’ve ever stared at an email that appeared perfect in one client but looked completely broken in another, you’re not alone.

After years of designing and developing emails, I’ve built up a collection of go-to solutions for common email design and coding issues. Whether its Outlook white lines, misaligned buttons, or inconsistent rendering, these are the fixes I keep coming back to.

That’s why I’m launching Email Coding FAQs: a series covering the most frequent questions I get asked about email coding, layout quirks, and how to make your emails work in the inbox.

This series is a more technical follow-up to Anatomy of a Good Email, created for anyone who’s ever asked: “Why does my email look like that?”

Is This for Me?

If you design or build emails, or have ever handed one off to someone else and watched it break, this series is for you.

It’s written for:

  • Email designers and developers looking for practical solutions

  • Junior creatives learning the quirks of email layout

  • Marketers and managers trying to understand what’s possible (and what’s not)

Each post is based on real problems I’ve seen, tested, and fixed.

What You’ll Learn

This series will go deeper into:

  • Why emails break in Outlook, Gmail, or Apple Mail

  • How to structure responsive layouts reliably

  • Best practices for accessible HTML emails

  • Common bugs and the fastest ways to fix them

Some posts will be short and sharp. Others might be more technical. But they’ll all aim to give you something immediately useful.

If you’ve come across something tricky or frustrating in your own email builds, I’d love to hear it. I’m always open to featuring real-world questions and challenges in future posts.

Final Thoughts

Email coding isn’t always elegant. But with the right approach (and a few go-to solutions), it becomes a lot less painful.

Email Coding FAQs is here to help. Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been fixing Outlook bugs for years, I hope it becomes a helpful part of your workflow.
